Jesus is there

At the age of 21 when I was just restarting to have more interest in faith, I met some young people who had been rooted in faith already for some time. Several of them talked about Medjugorje that the Mother of God was appearing there and, into the bargain, every day! It was really fantastic there, this silence, this peace! One could even grasp the presence of Mary. It sounded interesting, I wanted to take a look at it…

So there I was sitting in Medjugorje, and came this so much praised moment of the apparition. And I felt... nothing.
The silence: nothing than rustling and harrumphing.
The peace: I was just exhausted from the travel.

My expectations were just too high.The evening program continued with Holy Mass, in Croatian and I did not understand any word.

But yet I suddenly understood something entirely different. At one moment of the consecration of the host it suddenly became clear to me: Jesus is there! God is there! Here and in every Holy Mass! Christ is appearing always when the priest says the words of the consecration, not only here, but also with me at home in my parish church, with my parish priest.

I was nearly ashamed that I was so little interested in this until now. From that day on I began to attend workday’s mass once a week, then twice, three times. Meanwhile this coming of Jesus to us has become a constant part of my day.Alone I probably would never have discovered this. The Mother of God had to appear and to take me by her hand.
